This
procedure outlines the process of completing an adult transthoracic
echocardiogram in the Mayo Clinic Echo Lab.
Scope
·
This
procedure is to be used by all Echo Lab Staff in all Mayo Clinic Rochester Echo
Labs and outreach Echo Labs staffed by Mayo Clinic Rochester staff.

role during this procedure

For
an emergency or on-call exam, the physician may perform the echocardiogram
instead of the on-call sonographer. The emergency or on-call exams are
typically performed at the patient’s bedside
